Are County doctors just as reliable?

I've always had insurance but we've run into some financial problems so I'm opting out to have any insurance for a while and my newborn will have to recieve Medi-Cal. I'm worried about county doctors... are they reliable? When I take her for check ups are we going to have to wait ridiculous amounts of hours to be seen? Is the waiting room like what I've seen on TV?? Overcrowded?? What's it like??
